Terms of Service
Last updated: May 11, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Hobble platform, including the app, website, provider tools, customer tools, payment features, support services, and related services.
Platform Role
Hobble provides a marketplace platform that helps customers connect with independent service providers. Hobble is not the employer, partner, agent, insurer, or contractor of providers, unless expressly stated otherwise.
User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
Provider Responsibility
Providers are responsible for the accuracy of their profiles, qualifications, services, licenses, insurance, availability, pricing, taxes, conduct, safety practices, and service performance. Providers are responsible for complying with applicable laws and local regulations.
Customer Responsibility
Customers are responsible for providing accurate job details, safe access conditions, lawful requests, prompt communication, payment authorization, and completion or dispute feedback when required.
Bookings, Payments, and Payouts
Payments may be processed through third-party payment providers such as Stripe. Hobble may collect platform fees, require payment before a job starts, place or manage payment holds, release payouts, process refunds, delay payouts, or restrict payment activity where required for dispute handling, compliance, risk review, fraud prevention, chargebacks, or platform safety.
Independent Providers
Providers offering services through Hobble are independent service providers and not employees, contractors, agents, representatives, partners, joint venturers, or franchisees of Hobble. Hobble does not direct, control, supervise, inspect, guarantee, or manage the work performed by providers. Hobble does not guarantee the quality, legality, safety, timing, pricing, availability, or outcome of services provided by users.
Marketplace Only
Hobble is a technology marketplace that helps customers and independent providers connect, communicate, quote, book, and process payments. Hobble does not provide the underlying services requested or performed by users. Any agreement for work is between the customer and the provider. Hobble is not responsible for a provider’s acts, omissions, tools, equipment, materials, vehicles, workmanship, advice, representations, qualifications, licensing, insurance, or conduct.
Assumption of Risk
Users understand that hiring, entering a property, performing work, using tools, moving items, driving, repairing property, working around vehicles, marine equipment, RVs, homes, animals, weather, terrain, or other job-site conditions may involve risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, users voluntarily assume the risks associated with requesting, accepting, performing, or receiving services arranged through the platform.
Injury, Damage, Theft, and Loss
Hobble is not responsible for personal injury, death, property damage, theft, loss, incomplete work, defective work, unsafe work, delays, missed appointments, damage to belongings, damage to vehicles, damage to homes, damage to equipment, lost profits, emotional distress, or other harm arising from or related to services requested, quoted, booked, or performed by users. Customers and providers are responsible for resolving service-related claims directly with each other, subject to any dispute tools Hobble chooses to provide.
Provider Licensing, Insurance, and Legal Compliance
Providers are solely responsible for determining and maintaining any licenses, permits, registrations, certifications, insurance, bonding, workers compensation coverage, workplace safety compliance, tax registration, and legal authority required to offer or perform their services in Canada, the United States, or any applicable province, territory, state, county, city, municipality, or local jurisdiction. Hobble does not verify every legal requirement for every service or location and does not guarantee that any provider is licensed, insured, bonded, qualified, or legally permitted to perform a service.
Customer Property and Job Site Responsibility
Customers are responsible for providing accurate job details, disclosing hazards, securing valuables, managing pets, ensuring safe access, obtaining permission for work on the property, and confirming that requested work is lawful and appropriate. Customers should remove or protect fragile, valuable, private, dangerous, or sensitive items before a provider arrives.
Messaging and User Content
Users may send messages, upload photos, submit job details, provide profile content, and create other content through the platform. You are responsible for the content you provide and must not upload unlawful, misleading, infringing, abusive, private, or unsafe content.
Prohibited Conduct
- Using the platform for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, discriminatory, exploitative, or harmful purposes.
- Misrepresenting identity, qualifications, services, pricing, location, insurance, licensing, or availability.
- Attempting to bypass Hobble payment, booking, safety, verification, or marketplace rules.
- Submitting artificially low quotes, incomplete quotes, misleading quotes, or partial quotes to win a job and then requesting additional payment outside Hobble.
- Requesting, accepting, offering, or pressuring another user to pay cash, e-transfer, direct deposit, cheque, card, or any other off-platform payment for work arranged through Hobble, unless Hobble expressly allows it in writing.
- Using Hobble to find customers or providers and then moving the booking, payment, communication, or job completion outside the platform to avoid fees, payment holds, dispute review, taxes, records, or platform rules.
- Interfering with the security, integrity, availability, or operation of the platform.
- Uploading false, infringing, offensive, unauthorized, unsafe, or privacy-invasive content.
- Harassing, threatening, scamming, impersonating, or abusing another user.
- Requesting or performing services involving illegal activity, unsafe conditions, emergency response, medical care, regulated financial/legal advice, weapons, controlled substances, sexual services, or any service prohibited by Hobble policy or applicable law.
No Emergency Services
Hobble is not an emergency service and should not be used for emergencies, urgent safety threats, medical emergencies, fire, crime in progress, hazardous conditions, or situations requiring police, fire, ambulance, roadside emergency, utility emergency, or other emergency response. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.
Suspension and Termination
Hobble may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the platform at any time for violations of these Terms, legal requirements, safety concerns, payment risk, fraud concerns, abusive conduct, failed verification, or platform misuse.
Disputes
Hobble may assist with dispute intake and review, but Hobble is not required to resolve every dispute in favor of either party. Hobble may make platform decisions regarding holds, payouts, refunds, credits, account restrictions, or evidence review based on available information. Hobble’s dispute tools do not replace insurance, court, police reports, payment network processes, or direct legal claims between users.
No Guarantee of Recovery or Compensation
Hobble does not guarantee that a user will receive a refund, payout, repair, replacement, reimbursement, insurance payment, damages payment, or other compensation for a dispute, loss, injury, theft, property damage, incomplete work, defective work, or user misconduct.
Dispute Evidence and Platform Decisions
Hobble may request or review messages, photos, documents, booking details, payment records, location details, completion evidence, provider information, customer information, and other available records when reviewing a dispute, report, refund request, payout issue, or safety concern. Hobble may make platform decisions based on the information available at the time, but Hobble is not a court, insurer, arbitrator, contractor, employer, or emergency service.
Unsafe Situations
Users are responsible for their own judgment and safety during in-person interactions. If a customer, provider, location, property, service, tool, animal, vehicle, weather condition, or job site appears unsafe, unlawful, threatening, or unsuitable, users should stop participating where safe to do so and contact appropriate authorities or emergency services if needed.
Off-Platform Work and Payments
Hobble is not responsible for work, payments, promises, services, modifications, disputes, refunds, damages, injuries, losses, or communications arranged outside the platform. Taking bookings, payments, or job changes off-platform may limit or remove access to Hobble support, payment records, dispute review, refund review, payout assistance, and platform protections.
Underquoting, Cash Top-Ups, and Fee Avoidance
Providers must submit honest and complete quotes through Hobble. Providers may not intentionally underquote, submit partial pricing, omit required charges, or misrepresent the expected price of a job to win a booking and then request additional off-platform payment. Users may not use cash, e-transfer, direct deposit, cheque, outside card payments, or other off-platform methods to avoid Hobble payment processing, platform fees, payment holds, dispute review, tax records, or marketplace rules.
If additional work is required, the provider must communicate the change clearly and use any available Hobble-approved quote, booking, or payment adjustment process. If Hobble does not provide an approved adjustment method for the situation, the provider should not perform additional paid work until the customer and provider have a clear in-platform record of the change or until Hobble support provides guidance.
Off-Platform Compensation Breaks Platform Protections
For user security, payment integrity, privacy, fraud prevention, dispute review, and damage-claim records, all compensation for a Hobble job must remain on the Hobble platform unless Hobble expressly allows otherwise in writing. Compensation includes payment, tips, cash, e-transfer, direct deposit, cheque, outside card payment, gift cards, barter, trade, discounts, side agreements, refunds, reimbursements, settlement payments, replacement payments, materials charges, travel charges, deposits, cancellation fees, or any other thing of value connected to the job.
If any portion of a Hobble job is paid, promised, requested, accepted, refunded, settled, adjusted, traded, or compensated outside Hobble, the users involved are in material breach of these Terms. Hobble may treat the job as outside platform protection, and Hobble may have limited or no ability to verify the agreement, review evidence, process refunds, manage payment holds, support damage claims, assist with disputes, confirm completion, investigate fraud, or protect either party.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hobble is not responsible for any injury, loss, damage, theft, defective work, incomplete work, refund, chargeback, non-payment, overpayment, tax issue, dispute, fraud, privacy issue, safety issue, or compensation issue arising from or related to off-platform compensation, undocumented changes, side agreements, private settlements, or work performed outside the Hobble payment and booking process.
Account Restrictions and Enforcement
Hobble may warn, restrict, suspend, terminate, remove, de-rank, withhold access to leads, delay or hold payouts, cancel bookings, refund customers, block payment activity, remove public profiles, deny dispute support, limit platform protections, or permanently ban users who attempt to bypass the platform, request off-platform compensation, accept off-platform compensation, underquote jobs, misrepresent pricing, pressure users for cash, abuse disputes, violate these Terms, create safety risks, create fraud risk, create privacy risk, or harm platform trust.
Insurance Disclaimer
Hobble does not provide insurance for customers or providers unless expressly stated in writing. Users are responsible for determining whether they need personal, commercial, general liability, vehicle, marine, property, workers compensation, workplace safety, bonding, or other insurance coverage for a job or service.
User Indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Hobble, its owners, directors, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, service providers, and agents from and against any claims, demands, actions, losses, liabilities, damages, judgments, settlements, penalties, fines, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from or related to your use of the platform, your services, your job requests, your property, your conduct, your content, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, your dispute with another user, or your injury to or damage of any person or property.
No Warranty
The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hobble and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, business opportunity, service outcome, property, belongings, use, income, reputation, or user conduct arising from or related to use of the platform.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hobble’s total liability for any claim arising from or related to the platform, a booking, a payment, a provider, a customer, a dispute, or these Terms will not exceed the greater of: (a) the platform fees paid to Hobble for the specific booking giving rise to the claim; or (b) $100 CAD or $100 USD, depending on the user’s country of residence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some limits may not apply to you.
Governing Law
For users located in Canada, these Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada, unless the laws of another province or territory are required to apply. For users located in the United States, these Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the user’s state of residence where required by law, and otherwise by the laws selected by Hobble to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protection rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
Regional Legal Requirements
Users are responsible for complying with all laws, rules, licensing requirements, tax obligations, workplace safety rules, insurance requirements, and consumer protection obligations that apply in their country, province, territory, state, county, city, municipality, or local area.
Changes
Hobble may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
